Electricity Students Light’n Up
With a grant through Efficiency Maine, the Westbrook School Department with the help of Electricity tech 2 students are replacing all the exterior lighting on the High School and WRVC Campus. Electricity tech 2 students will replace at WHS we are replacing 35 wall pack lights on the side of the building and 14 pole mounted fixtures (8 – 25′ poles and 6 – 12′ poles). At WRVC we are replacing 18 wall pack lights on the side of the building and 19 pole mounted fixtures (10 – 25′ poles and 9 – 12′ poles).
The current fixtures are 30 plus years old. The work the students perform will require all their skills learned in the first year to remove and install the new lights. These new light fixtures are LED which use less electricity, have a longer life span and illuminate better. According to Efficiency Maine, the pay back in electricity savings will be in 18 months. Thanks to all the Electricity students and their instructor for brightening up our campus for years to come!
