EMT Course Description
This course is for WRVC juniors and seniors who want to serve their community in a fast growing medical field. Graduates of this course may become certified as a basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-B). There are three levels of EMT certification: basic, advanced and paramedic. EMTs respond to emergencies, accidents and trauma sites, working in conjunction with firefighters, paramedics, police officers and other health care professionals. EMTs provide pre-hospital care to sick and injured patients and transport patients to nearby medical facilities. As an EMT trainee you’ll complete over 120 hours of classroom instruction and complete up to 30 hours of supervised clinical training. Successful graduates of this course who are 18 years old will qualify to take the State exam, those who pass the State’s written and practical will meet all licensing requirements to work as a certified EMT-B in the State of Maine.
