We have many scholarship opportunities available to graduating seniors of Westbrook Regional Vocational Center– all you have to do is apply!

Blood, Sweat, and Gears Moto Show Scholarship
DEADLINE: TBA
- open to graduating WRVC seniors
- applicants must be continuing their education by going to a 4-year college, community college, or specialized trade school
- additional consideration will be given to applicants pursuing training in motorcycle repair (although it is not a requirement to apply)
IDEXX Scholarship
DEADLINE: TBA
- open to WRVC seniors who demonstrate financial need
- applicants must be of sound academic standing at WRVC
- must reside in Westbrook, Maine
- must be pursuing a STEM-related field after graduation
Jim Foye Memorial Scholarship

- open to WRVC students with grade average of 80 or above
- must be a positive role model both in school and community
Joseph Goodwin Memorial Toolship

- open to any WRVC student graduating this year
- must be pursuing a career in the electrical field
Matthew Rairdon Memorial Scholarship

- must be pursuing a degree in Nursing at a Maine college

- must be attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school for post-secondary education
Westbrook Housing Authority: 2022 Dr. Arthur O. Berry Scholarship

- open to Class of 2022 graduating students from Westbrook High School
- applicants must reside in Westbrook, Maine
- must plan on attending University of Southern Maine (USM) or Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) to pursue a degree in Applied Technology
Westbrook Professional Firefighters Association (WPFA) Scholarship

- applicants must be currently enrolled in one of the following WRVC public safety programs: Firefighting, EMT, or Criminal Justice

Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund
DEADLINE: February 1st
The Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund (CRSF) offers financial awards to Maine graduating high school seniors to attend.a 4-year college of a Maine community college. The CRSF was created by the Maine Education Association through a trust established by the late Audrey Lewis, who served as president in 1958. The fund was named after Clyde Russell who serves as Executive Director from 1945 – 1966.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduating high school senior who will attend a 4-year college
- Graduating high school senior who will attend a Maine community college
Complete scholarship applications must be received in the Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund PO Box no later than February 1st. Please allow 5-7 days for mail delivery to meet the Feb. 1st deadline.

Civil Engineering High School Scholarship
DEADLINE: March 1st
The Maine Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers is pleased to announce one $2,000 scholarship for an outstanding high school senior who plans to have a career in civil engineering.
The recipient will be selected based on: academic performance in high school, participation in extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and statement of interest in civil engineering. The recipient may use the scholarship to defray the cost of his or her first year of study at the university of choice.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be a Maine resident
- Must show proof of enrollment in a 4-year ABET accredited Civil Engineering program before the scholarship check is issued. ASCE will hold the scholarship up to two years if necessary, until a Civil Engineering major is declared.
Mainely Character Scholarship
DEADLINE: March 1st
Goal this year is to award 12 scholarships for $5000 each.
Mainely Character Scholarships: where character counts! These scholarships are awarded to the individuals who best demonstrate these four core principles of exemplary character:
- Concern: Communicating compassion and a caring attitude toward others.
- Responsibility: Demonstrating commitment and conviction through your actions.
- Integrity: Acting ethically and remaining true to your personal values.
- Courage: Taking risks and following your conscience with fearlessness.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You live in Maine
- You are graduating from high school in the year of your application
- Your high school is located in Maine. We do not accept applications from students attending high school out of state.
- You will be going onto an accredited post-secondary institution after graduation from high school. If you are considering a “gap year” between high school and post-secondary education, you must apply during your senior year of high school, and you must have already committed to a post-secondary institution.
Applications must be received or postmarked by March 1, 2023 to be considered.

Joseph A. DiPietro Memorial Scholarship
DEADLINE: March 31st
The Joseph A. DiPietro Scholarship was established in 2003 in memory of respected businessman and longtime Portland Water District Trustee, Joe DiPietro. It is a one-time, non-renewable, $1500 scholarship that will be awarded each spring to an individual in the Portland Water District service area who is pursuing a career that is applicable to the water/wastewater industry, demonstrates financial need, a commitment to the community, and a desire to improve public health and the environment.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must reside in a community served by PWD (Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Windham, Gorham, Raymond, Cumberland, Falmouth, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, or Standish)
- Must be pursuing a career that is applicable to the water/wastewater industry (e.g., water/wastewater treatment technology, HVAC, electrical, automation technology, instrumentation, plumbing, pipefitting, fire science, environmental studies, applied sciences, engineering, public administration) and must demonstrate a commitment to PWD’s mission to protect public health, public safety, and the environment
- Demonstrated financial need
- Funds must be used towards tuition
- Preference will be given to student(s) that:
- attend or plan to attend a community college, trade school or an accredited college or university in PWD’s member communities (University of Southern Maine, University of New England, Southern Maine Community College),
- are the first in their family to attend college,
- demonstrate a commitment to the community through volunteer efforts,
- and show high academic performance.

Mike Rowe Works Foundation Work Ethic Scholarship

The Work Ethic Scholarship Program is about recognizing people who understand the importance of work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude. Whining not allowed.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be enrolled in or plan to enroll in one of the following programs: Automotive Technology, Aviation Technology, Carpentry, Commercial Driving, Construction, Diesel Technology, Electrical Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Farming & Agriculture, Fire Science & Technology, Heavy Equipment Operation, HVAC Machinery Manufacturing, Marine Technology, Pipefitting, Plumbing, Welding

Blue Collar Scholarship
DEADLINE: April 15th

John W. Austin Memorial Scholarship
DEADLINE: May 1st
The John W. Austin Memorial Scholarship Fund has grown over the years and now awards up to nine recipients a one-time scholarship for up to $2,500 each.
Open to graduating high school seniors who are seeking higher education or technical training. Selection preference will be given to those pursuing opportunities in areas directly relevant to the motor transportation industry.
Requirements:
- Candidates must provide high school transcripts along with application
- Candidates must submit an informal narrative answering the following questions:
- What are your career objectives and how will this training help meet those goals?
- How did you become interested in the career you selected?
- Describe how your prospective education is tied to the trucking industry and why it is important?
- Candidates must submit two letters of recommendation from non-family sources, such as a teacher, counselor, supervisor or local trucking company.

Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund
DEADLINE: May 1st
Scholarship Amount: $1,000 (one per county; 16 total)

George V. Soule Scholarship
DEADLINE: May 14th
(winner will be notified by May 28th)
Scholarship Amount: $4,000
Open to students planning to pursue study in wildlife conservation, conservation law enforcement, forest management, or a closely related field. Applicants must intend to become a practitioner in one of the above-mentioned fields, preferably in the state of Maine.
Requirements:
- Must be a resident of Maine or attending high school in Maine
- Will successfully attain a high school diploma at the end of the current school year
- Must enroll in an approved undergraduate program for the 2023 fall semester

People’s Choice Credit Union
DEADLINE: May 30th
People’s Choice Credit Union is offering several different scholarships, totaling up to $5000. Scholarships are available in the following areas: volunteerism, community leadership, Maine business growth, and pursuit of a vocational field. More details available on the PCU website. Must be a PCU member at the time of application.

Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarships
PRIORITY DEADLINE: June 15th
Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis throughout the spring and summer
The Career & Technical Scholarship Program is funded through the Horatio Alger Endowment Fund and the generosity of Association Chairman Emeritus and Endowment Fund President Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States.
500 scholarships available at up to $2500 each.

- Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential)
- Will be enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2023
- Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States
- Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
- Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
- Be under the age of 35
- Be a United States citizen
